The creation of Tubombele Pamo

Thanks to the women empowerment program of African Impact, one of the leaders in the volunteer travel industry in Africa , this group of Zambian women were put together in 2015 to challenge the gender stereotypes and to provide them the tools to become completely independent and to create their own businesses.

This program includes workshops about phyiscal and mental health, business and public speaking. It was here where they started sowing bags, wallets and other complements to sell them to the volunteers that arrived to the Livingstone base.

Aside from that, some of them also have a small business, but with the coronavirus and the lack of volunteers it became more evident the need to find other sources of income.

Being 2021 their last year with the organization, an ex-volunteer that spent three months in Zambia suggested them to sell their products online so that they wouldn't need to depend on the people that they saw and that they would reach many more people.

The money collected through fair trade from the bags is destined towards a common fund so that they can open new businesses on their own or keep on studying, as some of them already do.
